Port of Los Angeles Pier 400 Terminal

The Future of Infrastructure

Over the course of a decade, the Port of Los Angeles completed the development of Pier 400.

Throughout this time, AECOM was involved with the development program, from the initial landfill planning, design and construction assistance to the design and construction management of the 484-acre container terminal for Maersk Pacific. The effort included all construction elements from the transportation corridor to the wharf and backlands development to the design-build of the terminal buildings.

This fast-track project included creative terminal development and construction planning that considered multiple and progressive construction contracts to start work early with design still underway, and design-build contracting to expedite the development of certain project elements. The construction value of all project improvements exceeded US$535 million (excluding the landfill development) and comprised 13 construction contracts.
