Sydney International Convention Centre

The Future of Infrastructure

Sydney’s new International Convention Centre (ICC Sydney) is a A$1.5 billion development at Darling Harbour, within walking distance of Sydney’s Central Business District, which features world-class architectural design, precinct integration and technical facilities.

With a total of 35,000 square metres of space, ICC Sydney is Australia’s largest exhibition space and is capable of concurrently hosting three separate, self-sufficient events, as well as an 8,000-seat plenary session. It also offers:

  • a grand ballroom providing premium banqueting space for more than 2,000 guests
  • a 5,000 square-metres external event deck with spectacular city views
  • access to the 8,000-seat tiered, fan-shaped theatre
  • a 2,500-delegate tiered plenary theatre
  • a 1,000-delegate tiered plenary theatre
  • an 800-delegate flat floor plenary area
  • 70 meeting rooms
  • banqueting rooms
  • a red-carpet arrival area
  • purpose-built registration areas
  • speaker preparation rooms
  • a dedicated VIP suite
  • business suites

ICC Sydney will be adjacent to a new 590-room luxury hotel — the Sofitel Darling Harbour — a new residential and commercial development, and a new pedestrian boulevard connecting the waterfront precinct to Central Station.

ICC Sydney was awarded Infrastructure Partnerships Australia’s Project of the Year in April 2017 and has achieved a LEED Sustainability rating of Gold.

AECOM’s involvement began at the bid phase supporting constructor Lendlease’s successful bid taking carriage of the multidisciplinary 3D engineering models up until Design Phase 2. AECOM provided services ranging from electrical and mechanical, to fire engineering, security, sustainability, pedestrian modelling, and environmental remediation, among others.
