The Future of Infrastructure

The Australian Government is committed to investing up to A$5.3 billion to build the Western Sydney Airport in southwestern Sydney, making it is one of the largest and most-significant infrastructure projects in Australia.Western Sydney Airport As a second international airport for Sydney, and one with enormous capacity for growth, this new global gateway will be crucial to the future development of Western Sydney, the broader Sydney region, the State of New South Wales and indeed of Australia.

It offers not only additional, much-needed aviation capacity, but also major improvements to logistics that will create jobs beyond the aviation sector, in areas as diverse as manufacturing and agriculture.

There are expected to be three main packages of work: Bulk Earthworks Airside Civil Works; the terminal building and associated airside and landside interface works; and landside roads, carparks and associated works.

The Department of Infrastructure, Regional Development and Cities awarded AECOM the contract for Project Management and Technical Support Services in 2018 to provide a critical assurance role in the delivery of Western Sydney Airport. AECOM is providing highly specialised project management advice and technical services to support the review and approval of design documentation, construction programmes and other deliverables, aligned with the quality specifications and milestones in the Commonwealth’s contract with WSA Co.
